Chapter 4. Good Lord, I'm in Beijing

Woke up, was driven to the airport, flew to Vancouver, flew to Beijing. I can't quite believe I'm here. There are a lot of Chinese people, and that helps drive it home. The wedding (not mine) is Saturday; so my family and I are going to do downtown Beijing tomorrow, the Great Wall probably Thursday, and Forbidden City Friday. Beijing is much more modern than I expected. It's fairly hot, and very hazy. Desmond's fiancee (wife, technically; they got married in Hong Kong last month) is very very nice, and we met her family on the way home from dinner. I was on the verge of falling asleep because I only slept an hour or three on the flight, and it's now 6:30 am on my internal clock. So, off to bed. More later, when I'm not comatose and can transfer the palm-pilot notes.
