[Quiz] Name this movie (answer at the end of the email):
[Hint One] On the back of a box, the following English text, presumably matching the similar-sized block of Chinese text:
true story that's been praised as the greatest legal thriller of all time/unconventional adaptation of classic love story is spellbinding portray, the youthful star-crossed lovers of the past. But the setting has been moved.they face the most person he's ever been. in a suspenseful true story that's been praised as the greatest suspenseful true story.
Heading back to the dorm after dinner, at a different restaurant for once, courtesy of some electronic engineering post-grads that Art ran into and who took him fishing today, we ran into Zhang Ming headed out to eat, so I went with him to the video rental store where last night I picked out for him "Dude, Where's my Car," which had him in stitches at many points, and "Battle Royale," which he said he didn't like and didn't finish, and where the very nice kid behind the counter said we could come back the next day, that now being today, at eight o'clock and possibly get the new Jet Li movie, "The One," which in Chinese is something like "Jiao Sheh Jiu," meaning "People Save the World" or "People Save the Universe," Zhang Ming not being willing to commit rhetorically to the notion that the World and the Universe are different things, and tonight the video store clerk was surrounded by other people, and was rather brusque with us, as if he didn't recognize us, or didn't want to recognize us, for inscrutable reasons, and in any event claimed not to have the movie in question. [Hint Two] According to the box cover, the movie stars James Woods and Drew Barrymore.
So Zhang Ming went to get food, and dropped me off at another store stalls down, which I swear either wasn't there last week or wasn't renting VCDs. I trolled through a sizable fraction of their collection, which is presented as cardboard box covers flattened and kept in plastic baskets. Every second movie featured Jackie Chan; in between were mostly straight-to-video action films, horror films, and uncategorizable Hong Kong films. I noticed a few gems to either recommend to Zhang Ming or watch myself, including Gallipoli, The Empire Strikes Back, The Thin Red Line, Kiss of Death (the remake with Nicholas Cage), and Shadow of The Vampire. Then I checked out the CD collection, which included a random assortment of current software with CD codes on the back, including Photoshop, 3D Studio Max, Oracle 8.0.5 for Windows, and oodles of others. As I was transcribing "Visual Studio.Net 7.0" a slightly better-dressed older man came and tried to hassle me, but I wasn't accepting any hassling in languages other than Chinese and, in between copying more CD titles such as "Microsoft XP 2002 Professional," alternated between "Wo bu dong," I don't understand, and insincere appeals to the curious bystanders to translate his bitching: "Anybody for impromptu English Corner? What does he want?" Eventually I finished my browsing, as he continued to glower over me, and went home. I present for you here several choice selections from the movie racks, which you must understand have box covers created through a clever combination of color photocopying, Photoshop, and creative translation. All typos carefully preserved.
2nd Runner Up for wackiest bootleg movie box cover:
On a midnight-blue box featuring a very muscular man with a large gun, in small yellow type underneath the Chinese title, the English title:
How tella Got Her Groove Back
1st Runner Up:
On a similar box cover, but this time with two heros back to back, one of whom looked like an extra-buff Emilio Estevez, this reviewer's blurb:
"A battle with" --the giant spider Shelob
Pitch Black
Winner:

Still haven't got it? [Hint Three] The Chinese title is Wei Lai Wai Xing Zhan.
Well, I wasn't willing to rent the movie to verify this, but judging from all of the cover art and screen captures, this movie is in fact Battlefield: Earth
