Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) **

It would be a grave disservice to Tarantino's achievements to call Guy Ritchie the British Tarantino. Tarantino assembled a staggering quantity of storytelling tricks and lit them up with fresh energy, kicking off a decade of imitators who duplicated only the superficial elements.
Ritchie's work is nothing more than a bundle of superficial elements, albeit competently executed. Lock, Stock, of which Snatch is simpler a bigger-budget remake with a recognizable stars and a different story, is perfectly enjoyable, has a few memorable jokes and situations, and - well, that's all.
